Sterling Park Kalimpong

It was a charming heritage property and I intentionally booked a room on their heritage side. I was fortunate to come during off season so not too many noisy fellow tourists.

It was lovely but some of the maintenance details need to be attended to. To be clear, this is not a housekeeping or service issue. This is the property owner’s responsibility. E g there were not enough outlets; bathroom windows and doors needed upgrading; little better lighting. Also, given climate change, I arrived on a hot and humid day. I thought there would be air conditioning but there wasn’t. I think it would be pretty unbearable in the summer months.

Not a good Sterling

Sterling is a brand, I stayed in many Sterling across India. I feel Kalimpong Sterling is not that good. Most of the rooms - hot water is not coming. Staffs are not very professional. Food is not up to the mark, Breakfasts has very less option.

Location is little away from the main square in a quiet neighborhood. It has amazing views of the Himalayas all around. The morning view of Kanchenjunga was the best. The rooms are big and spacious, had a colonial feel

Breakfast was service only, not buffet and service was slow.

Loved the location, the cosy rooms and the food.

Well maintained and nice outdoor. Gentle and supportive staff.

Food. There is variety but not much taste. Tea/Coffee kept in regular vessel and not thermal, hence not very hot.Missed the local food recipes (e.g momo, thukpa, Nepali thalis), and instead it was a regular buffet. Suggest to introduce more local dishes.

The location, staff, breakfast, drinks, pretty much everything was perfect, room was also nice and clean.The Highlight of this place is the staff, they are super nice and helpful. Special mention to Pranoy for his suggestions of off beat hikes and view points

Thought the food cost was rather on the higher side and little more variety could be added too

Excellent courteous smile always greets you with a smiling face. They have a very young and bright team. Rooms were clean. The highlight was the hotel observatory from where you can supposedly see the majestic kangchenjunga (we weren't lucky enough though to have a clear weather)

I thought the hotel was a bit understaffed. Sometimes, the restaurant took very long for our food orders.

The heritage has been maintained. Our Heritage Room was beautiful… it even had a dressing room. The staff were all very attentive and welcoming. The garden setting.

Nothing… it was hard to leave This Hotel is much better than the photos suggest!

Liked the service staff behaviour. They were very courteous and efficient. I would rate 10 out of 10.Liked the overall hotel and its cleanliness.I liked the wooden flooring and staircases. Wifi was good. View of kanchenjhunga from the garden ( not from the room ). It has a parking area in the garden. It has a well decorated bar and a lounge . Complimentary breakfast was good with variety of options. Restaurant staff were very efficient.

1. I requested for two rooms with good view during check in. I was offered one room with a mountain view ( not kanchenjanga ) which was extremely small and not at all suitable for staying two persons. The bed was smaller than queen size. The other room was of bigger size but had no outside view. One has to keep the lights on even during day time.2. During checkin process I was told by the manager that the classic rooms which I booked do not have a good outside view. Booking.com did not mention this earlier. 3. Running hot water was not available. I tried for 15 mins and finally went to the reception with my towels on only as the reception was not picking up my phone call. The house keeping staff came with two buckets of hot water after 20 mins. However they were of no use as I qas ready for checkout.Although there are many good things about the hotel, I would personally not prefer to revisit this hotel any more. Also would not recommend it to anybody.

Food is pathetic.Service is super slow.Hotel occupancy was 4 % but staff attitude was as of 100% occupancy related business.

Excellent stay. The location of the property was great and its look and feel was also very elegant and beautiful. The manager along with the staff were very cooperative and courteous. Every issue was attended to by them. The food was also good. I'd recommend this hotel for both long and short stays to all for leisure.

I think the hotel could increase its staff for the front office. While checking out in the morning, it took some time for a young guy to manage everything by himself. Otherwise it's all fine.

Well behaved staff, takes care of guest. Given good rooms.

I booked three rooms for ourselves and relatives. One of the room was leaking during rain. The most important aspect is there were frequent power cuts and hotel facilities were not available during such condition. Hotel management must take of alternative power sources.

This is a beautiful heritage property manned by ever helpful staff. The room that we were put in on the 4th floor were a tad smaller ( or felt smaller than they were ) but were functional and all basic amenities in place. The property has spacious common areas on certain floors which offer excellent views. Overall a good value for money.

- Since this is located a bit off the city center, a better equipped games room with a TT table would have been great. It does mention on Booking.com listing that it has a TT table, but on enquiring we were told there was none. - We would hear a lot of noises due to monkeys on the roof ( as it has a wooden roofing) - We found taste of certain items not to our liking - extensive use to Tomato pure ( the Chef informed us his preparation are in the local style )

The housekeeping staff were exceptionally friendly. The room was bright and clean. Taxi was arranged to airport and was good value.

The shower didn't have enough hot water for one shower. The breakfast was more limited than advertised, and was not particularly fresh. Nowhere to get food outside of restaurant timings. Bar wasn't well stocked or used. Far more expensive than similar hotel experiences.

The property is well maintained..location is accessible, specially would like to mention the staff..everybody was warm , Bhoomika & Ujwal specially..we enjoyed our stay there.. also our room had such beautiful view..would love to come back again sometime

Heritage rooms are good but food is passable although reasonably priced

There was no breakfast buffet.

Breakfast buffet was good, several options for vegetarians and others. The location of the hotel itself is quite nice, facing the mountains. There is a lookout room on the top floor with great views.

We ended up having dinner at the hotel, it wasn't good. The beans were stringy, mature and overly salted. When I mentioned it wasn't good, there was no offer to replace the item. I ended up not eating it. Our room had no view, just facing the wall of the building in front. The room was cold and drafty, though the space heater helped a bit.
